Below are some frequently asked questions pertaining to carpet.
Won't carpet increase breathing difficulties or allergies?
The Carpet and Rug Institute has a wonderful website that helps put an end to the misconceptions that are often associated to carpet. The following is an excerpt from their website:
"Studies have shown that carpet is better at trapping allergens than hard surface, such as tile or hardwood, because carpet fibers catch particles and allergens that fall to floor. When allergens are trapped in the carpet, they cannot circulate in the air for you to breathe."

I want to re-use the old underlay in my house instead of buying new underlay. Can I do this?
It is not recommended to re-use underlay and there are a few reasons why.
The first is that underlay, like carpet, will crush over time. If we install new carpet over this worn underlay we will significantly increase the time it takes for wear to become evident.
The second is warranty. Manufacturers require that new underlay be used in order to guarantee that the carpet will perform as advertised.
There are more reasons, but this could go on for an eternity. We strongly recommend new underlay under your new carpet.
I'm concerned about seams being visible. What do you do to prevent this?
While we do our absolute best to minimize the appearance of seams there is no way to guarantee that they will be invisible. The problem isn't in the installation of the carpet, it's in the manufacturing of it. Some styles just don't lend themselves to invisible seaming while other don't show a trace of a seam. We will work with you to determine appropriate seam placement and this can greatly affect whether or not they are visible.
Do you carry any Canadian made carpets?
Clayton Flooring Inc. is proud to be Canadian and we want that pride reflected in what we offer. As a result, we have carpet options not only made in Canada, but also made in Ontario. Kraus Carpet is made in Waterloo, Ontario and National Carpet is made in Mississauga, Ontario. Both offer a great lineup that will perform for years.
Do you sell wool carpet?
